What to Talk About in English if You're a Beginner?
Start simple
Just starting to learn English and afraid you won't have anything to talk about? It's okay. At Beginner level, you don't need complex philosophical discussions. You need simple, understandable topics where basic words are enough.
Topics you can discuss
About yourself:
- • What's your name, how old are you, where are you from
- • Who's in your family
- • Where do you live, what's your house or apartment like
Everyday things:
- • What did you eat for breakfast today
- • What's the weather like outside right now
- • What do you do every day — in the morning, afternoon, evening
Simple preferences:
- • Favorite color, food, animal
- • What music do you listen to
- • Cats or dogs?
Why does this work?
These topics use the most basic words and structures: I am, I like, I have, My name is.
With an AI conversation partner, you can discuss your family or the weather a hundred times. It won't get tired and won't say "we've already discussed this." Every time is practice. Every time you speak a little more confidently.
💡 Don't try to jump ahead. If you answer "What do you do every day?" with "I wake up. I eat breakfast. I go to work." — that's already great. That's already spoken English. Complex structures will come later.
